Tattoo Placement Meaning...

I read somwhere once, that putting tattoos on different areas of your body symbolizes different things. Like on your chest should be something that symbolizes your heart or love of your life for example. Anyone have any idea where I could find this information?

Your better off looking for books about acupuncture and/or chiropracty(bad spelling!). The body has lots of different "energies" moving all around and the healing arts like those mentioned (or even yoga/ martial arts) deal specifically with those kinda things.

I have recently done research on this with a friend of mine who is studying Sexual Psychology in women. Tattoo's over the breast area represent a woman coming out of a bad relationship or broken heart who is trying to mend or take back that part of herself. A tattoo on the ankle represents a "good girl" who wants to be "bad." A tattoo on the lower back means "come fuck me." A tattoo on the arm or forearm is usually done by lesbians and means "I am tough or no-nonsense." A tattoo on the shoulder means they are a tease or resort to humor/buddy-buddy type interactions with the oposite sex.

Jeez! Sounds like that research was based off of alot of myth and outdated stereotypes!

Well, I don't know, but I've heard that having a tattoo on your left shoulder means that you are unusually sexually well endowed... Oh wow! Look! Mine's on my left shoulder! Go Figure! (LoL)

My niece wants to get a tattoo on the web area of the hand...between the thumb and forefinger...she went to a local artist that said he would only do that on someone with a sleeve, because getting that as a solitary and first tattoo is a sign of disrespect to the artist. WHAT?? Anyone able to clarify that?

never heard of that one, i have heard artists that wont do neck, facial or hand tattoos on people that aren't heavily covered. their reason was they didnt want to get someone into something they werent well aware of or not fully prepared for. kinda makes sense to me, especially with how little thought some people put into their ink.

My husband and i just got matching tattoos of IV XXI XII the roman numerals of our wedding date. We both have more than a few tats but not enough to lack adequate space.
