okay, i tried searching the topics and didnt find what i wanted, so, i'm really sorry if this has been discussed before, but im in a desperate situation and i'm about to have a panic attack.
in about 3 days i'm going on an audition for my dream job, to get a contract being a character performer in tokyo disney.
only, it just NOW occured to me, that disney probbbly doesnt want their princess walking around saying hello to children and taking pictures with them, with silly things tattooed on their wrists.
thankfully my other tattoo is on my back and not seen when wearing normal clothes so i dont have to worry about it.... but for any of the performance jobs i qualify for, my wrists would have to be exposed. and i also have the word "imagine" tattooed in script on my left wrist.... =/ its not very big, but its definitly noticable, and its black, AND its relatively new, and i'm very pale, so the ink is really nice and bold.
which is usually a great thing!! except now this is making it very difficult for me to cover it up. i tried using my heavy professional stage make up, but the black ink bled right through, even after i piled on several layers of it. i've thought about maybe trying latex to cover it, but im not sure if that would also bleed through. i tried searching online for products, but i couldnt find any actual testimonials from real live tattooed people that could give advice on a product they've actually tried that covers really well.
please ANYONE if you have ANY advice, i'm desperate. i love my tattoo to death, but if i cant get this amazing job because of it i'm going to be terribly sad. and i dont have much time either, i have just tomorrow really to run out and try to buy a product to wear for my audition so that i can at least show my interviewers that i can cover up my tat.
thanks in advance!

Isnt there any kind of long SOLID attractive bracelet regalia that can be accepted as traditional Japanese?
i wish i knew the name of the makeup that you're looking for -- but i know it exists.
an old friend of mine did ballet -- and the makeup was meant to be used to cover bruises etc -- but she used it to cover up a few small tattoos. she had to apply it the day before or hours before to let it set (if i remember correctly).
i want to say it was called 'derma-blend' or something along those lines. sorry that's not too helpful, if i was still in contact w/her i'd get the correct product info.
If worst comes to worst.. just cover them with some bandaids.. say you fell and scraped your wrists or something like that.. it'll at least give you more time to find something that'll cover them up.
lol Working for disney with a wrist tattoo or bandaged wrists? oh lord I'd rather my child see the tattoo really lol
Mabey you can find some flesh colored paint?Or find out what they use to air brush on skin, you know the stuff they're painting the topless women with.I've seen it at a couple of ralleys and it seems to hold up pretty good.
I didn't cover my tattoos for my wedding, but its a popular topic and I heard about several concealers that work for a long time and cover well:
Dermablend seems to be the best.. but you can also use airbrush concealer from a professional artist.. I'd ]be more confident with Dermablend though, as its made to cover scars and discolouration.
i've seen stuff before on a tv show. it was on taboo. i have it taped but i can't find the video, and i know they dont say what it is. but a japanese i think.. professor coverd head to toe in tattoos. and he uses this make up everyday and you cant see it at all. it worked really good. im going to look for it and see if i can find naything about it and ill repost if i can... it was on the taboo tattoo it was japan
i like covermark (www.covermark.com) better than dermablend.
but a bracelet or something like it would be a better way to go. less anxiety about makeup rubbing off.
I wouldnt even worry man.
Not to be a turd but THIS is 'why' people should keep their tattoos off the areas so easily seen in the first place. Right or wrong, the FACT is that visable tattoos can and do effect your ability to get certain jobs and/or
promotions. Personally, I won't do a tattoo in a 'visable' place on anyone
who already doesn't have 'visable' work' and while most people listen, there
are occasionally those who want it where they want it and refuse to listen,
go somewhere else and do get it where they wanted. Sure, I 'loose' money
doing it but I've also had more than a few come back later seeking a referal
to a laser tech because they learned the hard way that I did know what I was talking about in the first place. At the risk of 'ruffling some feathers', I
think much of this could be avoided if more 'tattooers' would consider this
instead of just doing 'whatever-where ever' just to make the money but then,
I'm just a dumbass old fart, what would I know, right?...Doc
I have tattoos on my wrist also. When I want to cover them for interviews or around my very religious family I put something like an ace bandage around it. You can get them at any drug store. It is designed to go around your wrist once and is flesh colored so not as noticable and it is tight. If someone asks I just tell them I have problems with my wrists and the doctor told me to wear them for awhile. Which is partially true since I have carpal tunnel.
thanks guys for your ideas... i'm going to swing by a beauty supply store that i know today which sells dermabeld so i can test it out.
the bracelet idea is good... but just for my audition. the point is that if i actually get the job, i would be getting dressed up as disney characters, taking pictures with kids... like snow white, alice, ariel, belle, wendy... etc... and none of those characters have any sort of wrist coverage, so i would NEED to be able to cover my tattoo cosmetically, and really well.. not only that, but IF they happen to ask me at my audition if i'm tattooed, i want to at least be able to tell them with 100% assurance that even though i have a visible tattoo, i can make it totally disapear.
doc, lol, i totally get where you're coming from and why you wouldnt want to tattoo someone there. thats a good idea, i know lots of people who are idiots and have run out and gotten stupid tattoos on stupid places for the sake of fashion, or being trendy, and now regret it. but on me its fine, and i have other tattoos that are visible whenever i want but i can also easily cover up. hardly anyone sees my wrist tattoo because i always wear a watch that covers it (its a pretty small piece). i had it placed there and done small specifically because it would be easy to disguise for plays or regular jobs (i'm a theater major, so tattoos are a conflict for being on stage, unless it can be covered with jewelry, and regular stage make up works well from far way) and this is one is pretty easy one to cover up for those situations.
also, when i got it done, i specifically asked my artist what the best color would be to do it in so that i could easily put makeup over it and not have the ink bleed through. i told him specifically that i was considering working for disney and that i didnt want covering my tattoo to be difficult.... he said maybe a pinkish color would work, but he frowned on that idea telling me it would hardly show up on my skin and it would fade. so i left it up to him to decide... and... well... he chose black. and once you see the first letter put down in the black ink, its not like youre going to tell him to stop.
its okay, i love my tattoo, and im sure i can find a good makeup for covering it. i'll go test some stuff out today... i almost want to try liquid latex... for some reason i imagine that working, even though my makeup professor once told me that tattoo ink bleeds right through that as well... =/ if anything i wont mind using the next few months using AHA peels to kind of break down the ink and lighten it up, which will make it easier to cover... i wanted it a bit softer anyway. woooooooo. this was really long. sorry.
WOAH. sorry about the typos guys... i swear i'm not an idiot. its just hard to hit the right keys on a small laptop... )=
Rabid, I truly hope you didn't take what I said to infer that I was calling you an idiot or meaning any type of insult, wasn't meant that way at all. It seems
you did think about it and made your choice, as you have every right, to be sure. I do not think the only option was black but that's a mute point now and I do sincerely hope you can find a good 'concealer' and hope you do
get the job. Kindly let us know if you do find something that works, I KNOW
there are some out there, can't recall the names though (dammit) And, Good Luck with the audition...Doc
hey, its okay, i didnt take it as an insult, i was just agreeing with what you said about being careful with tattoo placement and what not. =)
on the subject of a concealer that works; i went to the store yesterday to try the dermablend concealer, and the girl at the store had a wrist tattoo herself and showed me that dermablend was the product she used to use for covering it up. she demonstrated it on herself, and her small black tattoo disapeared completely when she put the concealer over it, and she says it wont smudge off if you put setting powder over it. i got really excited and tried it on myself, but with no luck. you could still see my tattoo pretty well.
)=
i have two guesses as to why this happened.
1) my tattoo is still relatively new, like, 2 months new, and the ink is reeaaaallly dark and bold. the girl at store had one that looked older and dulled down.
2) the girl at the store had a nice darker olive complexion, which means the makeup for her was darker and probabbly a bit less translucent, plus i have the understanding that tattoo ink isnt usually as bold (unless touched up a lot) on this skin tone to begin with. I, on the other hand, am as white as paper, and getting tattoed is a relatively quick process for me because my skin absorbs ink like a sponge on just the first go around.
so.. i think those two facts combined, my white skin and my dark tattoo, are going to make this process difficult for me. (but for any darker skinned people looking for a good tattoo concealer, dermblend is a good bet for you!)
*sigh* my friend who has auditioned before for disney told me it didnt matter if i could cover it up, because one of the first questions they would ask me at the interview would be if i have any tattoos, visible or not, and that whatever i have on my body (if they plan on hiring me) they will simply find a character with a costume that can cover my tattoos..
but i dont think there ARE any female characters with potential wrist coverage.... =( i guess befored i had figured that if i could camoflauge my tattoo REEEEAAALLLY well for the audition, i'd just lie and say the only one i have is on my back. but.... i guess lying to disney world isnt a great idea.... is it?
)=
i definitly dont want to get my tattoo removed, but is getting it a bit faded an option? are there products that will actually dull down my tattoo? i was on another site where a big discussion over tattoo removal creams took place over the course of like, 2 years, and after reading over the whole thing i came out with no useful info other than that these online tat removal products are probably all scams. since i dont have to money to waste on testing them out for myself, is there any OTC cream (or something i can get prescribed) that can help me with mine? i dont want it to disapeer, i just want it to be easier to cover with makeup. i've heard about people buying stuff at the drug store like apricot peels and certain lotions that help with this. i'm also worried about irritating my wrist beacuse its a pretty sensitive area and not the kind of place where i'd want my skin to start cracking and scarring (definitly NOT what disney is looking for when hiring a princess ;_;)
thanks for all your help guys.
I have a good sized tattoo on my chest. I went to get some photos taken and in some I wanted it covered. The make up artist was wonderful. Believe it or not he used a green base coat let it dry and then matched the foundation to my chest. You could not even tell I had a tattoo. However, I have no clue where to find he green foundation.
actually that makes a lot of sense because (at least from what i've learned from theatrical make up) greens and yellows are the best concealers to use under your foundation because they naturally sort of cancel out other colors.. i tried a bit of yellow concealer the first time i tried covering my tat at home but it didnt work great. i also was in a rush and didnt really let it dry. maybe i'll try again with some green. thanks for the idea! i hadnt thought about trying that color. (=
I am doing an audition Oct 30. I just wanted to know how yours went?? Hopefully good! I think that if you do get selected to do face work its still only 5% of the time, so when your in fur your completely covered. And as for face, I think that is an additional audition which includes getting in the costume and makeup, so the one on your back you might want to take care of to, if it comes to. Send me an Email and let me know how it went!!! THanks! Mae
What about trying lightweight fabric [like lace] elbow length gloves? Doesn't Cinderella wear those to the ball? [i may be wrong, it has been a few years since i saw it]
Also if they give you crap just say you are a germaphobe and you are tounching countless numbers of children day in and day out, and they provide a barrier.
Just another option.
Good Luck!
I found this topic and board when I was looking for something to cover the tat I have on my arm. Normally, I would tell someone who asked me to cover it to go jump, however as it was my soon-to-be sister in law, and I am a bridesmaid in her wedding next weekend, I decided not to. In the interest of family harmony, lol.
I don't have the $$ to buy some of the expensive stuff out there, nor the time to wait for it to be shipped and was looking in my makeup, when I remembered I had this airbrush makeup from Sally Hansen. I decided to try it and though it does take some time to dry (even with a hairdryer), it does work remarkably well. I dusted some powder over it to set it and sent a pic taken with my camera phone to my SIL. She was happy, dilemma solved.
Sally Hansen airbrush makeup in no color (this is important, it blends with any skin tone and is not obvious!) is online and at places like walgreens. Look it up, I can't promise it'll cover every tat, but mine is black and red and it did very very well.
Take care.
Has2tats (so far!)
Did you ever find anything. I'm an actress as well and also very pale and have been thinking about getting a tattoo on my foot, but I need to be able to cover it if I have to. I heard of something called tattoo camo that works...
I work in a corporate setting and I am covered in tattoos. On my wrists, arms, chest. Not exactly what they like. I use dermablend leg and body cover along with the powder. It is about 30, really good price, and works great. They are sold on stores like Ulta. I live by them. If it wasn't for that, I would probably be wearing long sleeves in 100 degree weather!
ok i seen kat von d new make up and that covers tattoos pretty good but best bet prob airbrush.
Check out Ferbs Tattoo Undercover at www.FerbsCosmetics.com
try mac cosmetics. they have a very good consealer
I work as a server in a nice restaurant were I have to have my tattoos covered for work. I used band-aids for a while but didn't like how it made me look like I was always banged up or something. My boyfriend got me this tattoo makeup last summer called Tattoo Camo that's made to stay on tattoos all day. It really thick paste so it goes on with one application and COMPLETELY conceals the tattoo. The only problem is its not in stores and its hard to pick out the right shade on their website. So I ended up buying another shade and I blend them to make a perfect match. Its a good product, 100% better than band-aids too!
Hi guys, dermablend is the way to go!!!
