Questions, Warren, Ohio

Hi, I actually forgot I posted here awhile back. At his suggestion, I sent Taz a pic of my tattoo, but I see he's on a needed break. I didn't bookmark and didn't save the email. Duh! Anyway, I have a tattoo on my ankle that I didn't like the day after it was done (a year ago). It's approximately 3.5" long by .5-1" high. I picked from the wall, a little design with a red rose in the center of leaves on both sides. It's much darker than I expected or wanted with dark red and green with thick outlines. It's not horrible, but not what I expected and not something I enjoy seeing on my leg every day. (yes, it's my first and only). Is it possible to cover up with lighter colors? I've been thinking of changing it to a 3 star design ( 1 center with 2 smaller on each side and I'd prefer pink, purple, and blue shades?). I've not been to impressed with those I have talked to in town to see what could be done ("you can only go tribal" "you wanted something to small" "there's nothing wrong with it"). Someone at one time gave me a name of someone local, but of course, I couldn't find my way back here to find it again. I've searched the net for local artist work, and came up empty. Anyone know of a great artist in this area? This time I'm trying to be pro-active. I have a request for all artists on the board if you're not practicing this way. If a 34 year old woman (or anyone for that matter) walks in your place and picks a small design that you can't duplicate, tell her. I'm a nurse, if you ask me for a cardiac medication and you don't have a heart problem I could give it to you but, I'm comfortable enough in my experience to tell you won't get the results you're looking for.

Where are you located? Have you checked our custom tattoo artist list yet? I dont think any of the artists who post tattoos on this site would ever do a tattoo they dont feel comfortable with...

ha! Warren, Ohio... I would go to Stained Skin in Columbus or Kore Flatmo's studio in Cincinnati. Or maybe head to Pittsburg and see Steve Morris at American Tattoo (Steve has some tattoos posted here).

Mario is a very humble guy which is one of the qualities that make him special...but he is one HELL of an artist and a Damn fine tattoo artist....be watchin this little guy Gabe cause he is comin up...FAST!! But you will never hear him say so!...I have pics of a bio mech piece he did on one of his buds that just blew me away and it was just playin around with SHARPIES!!!...I firmly believe that Mario J is destined to be one of the greats!!!!...TAz PS...Mario also send Gabe the skeches you sent me...AWESOME!!...Unca T

I have been given a few names in our area, but before I go in, I'd like to hear options of what can be done with this so I am not lead astray.

Taz, I think Durb works out of his own private studio now, he sold Stained Skin to Anthony Dubois. Anthony did my last tattoo and I'm very pleased with it.

Anthony does GREAT work too!...Its my understanding that Durb still comes in from time to time...but hey...either one will work!! Thanks though Dan...oh and I'm Glad you are posting now pal!!

I'm thinking the email is lost in space so I'm trying this. I'm sorry for the poor quality, but I hope it will give you a general idea. I had it done with my daughter when she asked me to go with her for her high school graduation "I'm an adult now celebration". She place a little star in her inner heel, not happy with her colors but loves the placement and overall design. So to make meaning out of the one I have I was thinking 3 stars, one larger (not much larger than the rose), and one on each side to symbolize my 2 kids. (no hubby star.... you just don't know what the future holds). I'm thinking replacing the rose with a red star (or heart) and the other's "boy and girl" colors. Before I go finding an artist, I just wanted to check and see if it could be done, or should I re think. The original design was much much smaller than the end product, probably to small to do well, but what did I know. I got great work by Anthony at Stained Skin. He's also done work on my husband and a couple of friends. He's great. Also Natalie at Voodoo Monkey in Cleveland is great. She's doing a tattoo on me right now and she's been just great and very very professional. Check her at at www.voodoomonkey.org I hope this is helpful.

What you want CAN be done by a good artist ...go see the Stained Skin people...highly recommended
