People uptight about tattoos

Love the forum. You guys help alot of people and stop alot of people from fuckin us up!! Back to the subject. I ride an old beat up chopper and have full sleeves on both arms, typical looking biker, but thats it, I LOOK THE PART!! Just because I look like that, most people automatically assume I just got done beaten and rapin women for fun. This past summer me and my buds went on a three state countryside ride and we pulled off the highway to get some lunch (at wendy's, not a bar!) We were all taking our jackets and helmets off when this minivan pulls in and this little boy around 5 yrs. old comes runnin over to my scooter. I asked him how he was doin as he was admirin my bike and his mom FLIPPED OUT!!! She told him he was not supposed to talk to people with tattoos and rode motorcycles!! Hell, I was to stunned to even say anything to the bitch, but wouldn't have anyways cause the kid was there and I just don't swear in front of kids (some big bad biker I am, huh?!!) And it's not like I have swastikas and naked women on my arm, my tats are tasteful and not rude in any way. I was just wondering if other people had stories like this, as I find it ammusing that some people find it that bad to have art on their body. keep the rubber side down -ironhead
Well, in all honesty, thats how the world works. There are stereotypes of all people (sometimes they're there for a reason) and when you look the part, basically you have to expect to be treated the way you look, especially when you go out of your way to look a certain way. I ride, I have several tats, but fortunately, I rarely get anything said to my face (but behind my back i'm sure, lol) since I'm 6'3" and 300lbs, but I do know what it feels like (I wasn't always this big, I started working out hardcore several years ago).. Just keep in mind, we have our health and our wits, we have lovers and we have jobs (most of us), we enjoy riding, getting inked, and whatever else we may enjoy....- think of all the people who get made fun of, looked at funny and tormented because they were born with a birth defect or mental defect. Totally uncalled for and they have to go through life that way. Kinda puts things into a different perspective that makes me appreciate how lucky I am.

Thats all about conforming to this society or actually the way narrow minded people thing. For example I moved from up north down here to mississippi. I have my lip, eyebrow, and nose pierced my hair had either purple or pink streaks in it (cant remember which one I changed it all the time) and tattoo on my arms which you only really see if I wear a tank top of low cutting shirt in the arms. I move down here and people look at me like im a freak or something. I went to eat at IHOP and these preppy blond headed Abercombie wearing girls started laughing and looking over at us. I felt so self consious (doesnt really help with the self esteem issues I have) I actually took the piercings out for awhile. I had to take a good hard look in the mirror and realize who I was, I said screw it this is me and I dont care what people think. If the only job I can get in town to "fit in" is Hot Topic so be it. I refuse to conform to this society or narrow minded people. Man I grew up with my husbands father who is a biker so I was just use to that scene, we use to ride in all the parades and people loved us. I cant believe a person would think that way. Most of the bands I listen to have tons a tattoos on them do people think there freaks when they encounter them.
Alright, people in this world dont know how to conform to anything trust me I would know. I am 19 years old and have two tattoos currently..One is on my ankle and it is just a cute little rose and moon. The other one though is a FULL back piece..it goes from the bottom of my neck down to almost the crack of my ass. I look the part of a biker and all. I have had plenty of things to me. When I was first starting to get my back piece done I had a group of kids come into a bowling alley where my fiance and I were bowling and the parents actually looked at me and said, "Come on kids! We need to leave I will not expose you to the freakish ways of people these days! I will be damned if I will ever let my kids pollute their bodies!" In reply to that though I simple told her, "You admire art work don't you? Then why flip out cause I have art work on my body?" She had no reply to that she just walked out. I then went and apologized to the bartender who I knew very well and he told me not worry bout it cause someone people just need to learn to grow up and except that people are different. We maybe criticed but I will tell you what; You can fight back one person at a time!!!!! Maybe someday those who dont have tattoos will be considered freaks and they will then know how we feel!
I guess I'm pretty lucky, I don't have alot of problems w/ people, I'm not sure If it's how I present myself or what, but my lip is peirced 3x and I guess if you broke it down I have 43 tattoos, so I'm pretty much covered, but I'm not shy, I don't mind answering peoples questions, (did that hurt?) But I also understand that I choose to make myself look like this. People do tend to stare a little more when I have my two year old w/ me, but who gives a flyin' fuck. If someone won't talk to me because of the way I look thats the exact close-minded fool I wouldn't want to waste my time on anyway.
As usual the very intelligent Skittlez has it right on the money....But think about this...isn't it the whole point of body mods to be DIFFERENT? Now tell the truth all you inked up and pierced up people ...wouldn't ya be just a wee bit disappointed if nobody EVER gave ya a second look? Of course ya would be.....I ,for one, love it when people ask me questions about my ink or this ancient art. I have met some great people this way ....and some assholes too of course! Would you rather your art elicited no response at all? Even if it is negative it is still a response! As far as the people who look down on the "colored people" well who gives a flyin fuck about them? Assholes abound and judge people from their high horses ....WHO CARES?????
Thanks Taz.
