I just got my first tattoo on Friday.(Feb 3, 2006) My initials on my arm. My friend said to only use Ink Fixx, and she lended me a can. I have heard to never use Nerosporin, Is That TRUE? My tattoo just started scabbing and peeling yesterday so..... Anybody have an idea or recomendation please let me know? Or and answer? Thanks a Bunch, Jeremy
You should heal the tattoo the way your artist recommends, not your friend or us.
the person is just asking for suggestions being some of you are in the buisness and have experience...god forbid we ask for that..
Oh Chill out. He's getting advice! You have no idea how many screwed up tattoos I've seen because people listened to what a friend had to say and not the tattooist. JOE
I gave them the best advice (I think) they could get. Sorry you didnt like it. I can tell you the way I heal tattoos, the way the guys in CT heal tattoos, the way they heal tattoos in the mid-west and on the west coast. Without doubt, the advice you should be taking as a client about healing should come from directly from the artist you trusted to do the tattoo, unless you have enough personal experience to know how your body heals.
My advice is dead on with Gabes, listen to the artist that did the work, but I would stop using whatever your friend loaned you because you could be transferring dangerous pathogens into your tattoo since your friend was using their finger to rub the ink fixx into their bleeding tattoo and redipping I'm sure, and now you may as well be rubbing your friends who knows what into your tattoo. Next time, listen to the artist, not your friends is the best advice. In the meantime, get tested for Hepatitis in case your friend has it and you just shared ointments.
Gabe and Kristof - excellent answers. thank you
I apologize, I spelt your name wrong Krystof
The advice that the other guys gave you is correct. Listen to your artist and not not your friends. However, I'm not your friend, I would suggest using a product called A & D. You can find it in the baby care isle of the grocery store. It containes vitamine A & D ( go figure) from fish oils, and as we all know, fish oils are essencial to healthy skin. Hope this helps.
Definately consult your artist. They know what kind of inks they put in you and they will know what will kill them. When I got my first the guy told me to pick up some Neosporin. I got my second from an out of state artist at an Easyriders Rodeo and he said stay away from Neosporin because it will pull out the ink. Two different people with two different opinions. I know what I use and what I will always use regaurdless of what people think. I don't wander from artist to artist anymore either. Oh and the first tat with Neosprin used as aftercare? Looks pretty damned good eleven years later.
I agree with the A&D it helps keep the area soft n smooth n keeps it from peeling. I know many people that have used it n they say it works the best
Everyone has a different opinion, even when people tell me they know how to take care of a tattoo, I ask them to follow my instructions on my tattoos. If they have any questions, call me at the shop, don't listen to thier friends, they have no idea what they are talking about. Personally, I tell people to wash it 4-6 times a day with hot water, and use aquaphor.
Yes I just started recomending aquaphor. Its is the best sh*t I have experienced. But definately listen to your artist.
