snake bites are a lip ring on both sides instead of just one, and thats for the info I'll wait so I dont screw anything up

I've been around the forum for a while, that's how I know your name. Sorry that things have been shitty at home. I think NEITHER the tattoo or the piercing are a good idea.

I'm all done uploading my pics to the site, have fun with them if yur still on
Your young and peircing can be healed later but they leave a scar that might cause questions. A hidden tattoo think "Covered by shorts and a t-shirt" while more permanent might get less flak from society. My opinion is wait, but I know you won't listen. If not absolutely 110% positively sure what tattoo you want and why.. it should be something that means something to you and not like a girl's name, band name or the like.. Something that can't possibly change because the tat won't. Then go for the tat if it's legal in your area. About your art. It's not bad, keeping practing and try other mediums. Go to school. Even artists need to learn. I especially liked the mask. P.S. Study every part of the body and draw every piece over and over. It's one of the hardest parts to master.
Dude, no. He's under 18. We've all been telling him to stay away from the tattoos. No one should be getting tattoos until they are 18 or older, period. Anyone that tattoos someone under 18 should be reported to the authorities for child abuse. This includes the parents that take them to get the tattoos.
And we agree on that Val...but it IS legal where he is with a parents signature and as we all know he already has the tattoo...the piercing as long as its professional is just not in the same league as a tattoo....Ryan is a good kid and he is doin his damndest with his art and I still say that I have a lot of faith in him...he and I have had some long talks...he IS going to be a great tattoo artist someday...he has that fire burning in his heart just like I did at an even younger age than he...hell I was tattooing professionally at 14!...Of course it was so much different then...seems like a century ago...and no age remarks assholes!! LOL!! I only wish the kid was closer so I could give him a leg up...He knows what he has got to do and nobody I mean NOBODY is gonna stop him...just like me...I come from a very conservative family...well on my Moms side, and when they learned that I was gonna be a tattoo artist the shit hit the fan!!...but that didn't stop me...I ran away and tattooed with the carnival to get started....that was back when we didn't know what a sterilizer was and we only changed needles when they got so dull they wouldn't pierce skin!.. But AIDS and MRSA didn't exist then and ya rarely saw an infection!..Figger THAT out! Ah what a long strange trip its been guys!!..Man I could tell you some stories!!...WHEW!!!
And KaEZ...this kid has been yelled at by the best of us....he probably knows more about tattooing than a lot of so called "artists" out there!
taz did you check out my art yet,
TAz, I know, I know.... Trust me, I'd rather him get the damned piercing before he gets another tattoo. I was just informing the other dude what the general consensus on tattoos on minors is. And that we've drilled that into our little buddy Ryan's head! :o)
Yes I did Ryan and you are doing GREAT...you just keep workin buddy...and stay in touch this time ok?...TAz
I might have over stepped my bounds a bit. I'm only 26, I know what it was like at 17 and didn't have near what he's been through, my wife is a different story. But he seemed to know what he was talking about and seemed to have had "the talk" before. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Not specifically recommending the tat, but if he's going to get some art/mod done. Then the tat can be better hidden in the short term, which will determine his future, but hey I'm only 26 what do I know? My first tat came at 18(after joining the USMC, later got kicked out, apparently generals don't like questions from congressmen), a dragon(liked them since 5 and still do.) on my upper arm. My 2nd was gotten 3 months ago, done by my wife. It's a frog and represents several things that won't change to me. I planned to be covered head to toe once my profession will permits. Right now my ~$52K a year doesn't permit anything not covered.(It does but would cause problems.) So for now I'm satisfied to jump the the hoops and collect my check. My next job is likely owning a studio. Then I'll tattoo what every I want and any part of society can kiss my a** while I finish my Math/Physics PHD. (R&D is my eventual goal, right now I'm a self taught geologist by trade, but deal with customers and sales in the field %75 of time while away from home.) Now you know more about me than you ever wanted too.
One more thing. You already know this, but go to a pro. If you can't earn the money to go to a pro then wait. At 17 you don't want it bad enough if you won't work for it. (This may sound hypocrytical of me because my wife is a scratcher, but she ONLY deals with adults and follows professional procedure. She doesn't allow minors to be present at all family or not.)
Hey TAz... Ryan was asking me if he's a member of the TattooNOW family... I told him once he sends a pic to Baker, and posts a little more, he's totally in. Wouldn't you agree? I think he deserves a spot on the site with us!
He's only 15. And he knows he damn well better go to a pro.
awwww thank you theval
Didn't know only 15, not a huge difference between 15/17 both old enough to know better and still too young to care. P.S. In that case though Peircing vs. TAT is a different story. Go for the piercing. Unless you want the tat to look like hell in a couple years. At 15 your not do growing and that can stretch a tat and make it blurry/disproportionate. P.S. I'm thinking about a septum piercing (easier to hide for my job) Makes your eyes water like hell thought and smells like a** unless kept clean.
KEAZ...please don't confuse the issue by calling your wife a scratcher!!! From what I've seen and heard, she's a good tattoo artist that tattoos in a very clean, safe, and professional enviornment. a "scratcher" doesn't know what he or she is doing, fucks up people's skin for a living, and doesn't give a shit what kinds of diseases he or she is possibly spreading. I don't think she fits in that category! (correct me if I'm wrong).
we don't want REAL scratchers thinking that it's something to be proud of.
You're right WO..I don't consider her a scratcher at all ...I just wanna see her get licensed and in a shop.. Ryan...Hell yes you are a member of the family...get a pic of you to ol Baker and he will get it up!! See ya!!!...Unca TAz
The portrait she did in exchange for a photgrapher friend helping with her portfolio is likely her last homepiece. She taking a week break from everything. Then she'll be pounding on doors come Tuesday. (Shops in SA tend to be closed on Mon.) P.S. She has a certification she recently got from the American Tattooing Institute. It was their on-line "Certified Tattoo Specialist Course". Predominently sterilization info.
I would advise her to not only leave that certificate at home when she is out pounding the streets but to burn it lest it be known she has one and is laughed out of the shop!!...The "institute "is an industry JOKE man!...Don't ya get it?.. J O K E !!!!!!
I did provide good info on disease and sterilization practices, but I realize that's about it. I personally hate certificates, degrees, etc... But 99% of the world says you need them to prove what you know. I had her do it and she learned some info, but coming from a good source that's prolly the best advice, but you should never disregard a source of good free info.
I am simply trying to warn you as to what the majority of professional tattoo artists think about these online certificates...I am speaking from experience.....have her get certified at a REAL accredited college or hospital and then it will mean something...the online certificate could actually be a deterrent!!! Just trying to warn you!!
Warning taken... she already said, "I told you so...(insert speech)" She told me she only did it to humor me... (feeling a wee bit sheeepish). I still think it provided useful info that should be read... but I guess the cert isn't worth the paper it printed on.
I am happy to find that you are one of the few who actually LISTEN!! I appreciate that...it still holds...if I can help just yell...TAz
I would like to personally thank you for e-mailing my wife. She has a prospective shop. They're hiring an aprentice, but the owner is out of town at a convention.
