obviously your best.... and not JUST what you think is best. but you think they want to see. if i where to apprentice someone i would want to see the ability to be extremely orignal, but the ability to create clean lines, smooth color, good form/proportions. The ability to do those stupid flash pieces everyday BETTER than what they look like on the wall. And have the skill/expirementation to only get better and better.
Maybe do some pieces the way the general public wants to see it and then do the exact same piece the way you would want it. Its wicked frustrating to talk people into doing something cool. Because the people who walk into the shops arent artist. for some reason just cuz the octopus is green on the wall with big black lines, must mean its the only way its going to look good.
ugh im ranting.
ok here is my gallery on a site I'm on, all of these drawings are ion portfolio so far, I think these are the best, the only one that isnt is the second angel, so tell me what you think sofar, so please take a look and tell me what you think and if it is good

i dig the color in the ankcknckecece or whatever that shit is. with the spider web, but everything is insanely stale. thin lines. wavy lines, shit isnt straight. the background concept in the lotus pic isnt even a concept its just a blotch of two colors.
i dont mean to be rude but it looks like shit someone drew in like study hall bored out of their mind. i would try taking an art class, maybe learning a different medium. colored pencils arent my thing at all. try water color/oils/acrylic theres a whole world of shit out there. study other peoples designs, and trace flash and make it your own.
what kinda supplies like brand names would you suggest
I hate charcoal. But I think that's what could help you alot here. It's much easier to draw a smooth convincing line if you've spent 20 hours before hand making quick smooth, zig-zag, and rough movements with it. Pastels are good for that as well, but color complicates things. Keep it simple, go with charcoal.
Buy all different kinds, willow charcoal is some of the weirdest stuff you'll ever see, but that's why I like it, it's weird. Don't pay much attention to the different packaging or whatever, just get all different kinds and use all of them.
Then, do very lose, quick drawings. Focus on getting a "suggestion" of something, rather than that very specific object. Draw from real life. Ask
your friends if they would like a portrait or two, or twenty. They'll be so flattered they'd be more than willing to help I bet. The more times you sit with someone the better.
Choose objects that you like and draw them. Draw them from different angles, draw them when you're in different moods. Alot of what people forget is that if they're trying too hard, it's hard to get an emotion into a piece of artwork. An angry drawing looks different than a happy drawing, even if it is of the very same object with the very same lighting. Explore that.
If you don't believe all this charcoal and emotions nonsense, just try it for a week. Everyday, for one week (which isn't long at all you know) and then go back to trying to do "traditional" flash. I bet you'll be suprised.
All in all, charcoal is your friend (even if I hate it..but that's a lie, I tolerate it) and once you feel like you've gone as far as you can go with charcoal for awhile, try pastels. Pastels are a whole other wonderful planet.
I'm teaching my fiance to draw as well. I'm no master (obviously) but I've got some basics down that I can teach pretty easily. He gets frustrated sometimes and I just giggle a little and say "Erase and do it again, that's the fun of art!". Of course that's not the real fun, but it's true.
Erase and do it again, and again, and again, and again. Because let me tell you, it's the fun of art, and you better get used to it :^P
i like windsor & newton products, i dont know why. but i do. its pretty standard too
hi again, Is this a good form of a tiger/panther, also is it any good, I know that the lines arnt good, its just an innitial sketch of it, tell me what you think

In some cases it's called for, true. And in some instances you have to develop thick skin and you don't have to say anything at all. Ignorance speaks for itself.
51, you have so much potential, but they're right. You have to slow down.
I'm going to be brutally honest
The big problem I see with the panther is that the front legs aren't attatched properly. One is coming out of the belly and the other is coming out of the neck. It also appears to have a very human shoulder.
This is what I want you to do...
Go buy a cheap notebook from a Dollar Store or something and then go to a library. If you can somehow get into an elementry school library, that will have amazing sources. Get as many nature books about big cats as you can. They're for children, so they'll have plenty of photos and hopefully some simple bone structure diagrams, pictures of the skulls, etc.
Now I want that notebook filled with big cat drawings. Mostly rough sketches. stick-man out the bone structures first and build up on that, swirling in muscle and ftendons and fur. Have whole pages dedicated to small bits of the animals such as the paws, eyes, muzzle, whisker layout...
And if you use a few different kinds of big cats, you can also study the difference between species such as panthers and tigers, pumas and lynx.
And draw many many different poses.
This is an in depth study on a subject. It should take at least a week. None of these drawings should look very clean. go over and over your lines, if something is off, redraw it overtop of what you've done wrong. That way you get to see your own corrections right in front of you.

WTF?!
Why?! Why does it do that? Sorry. Didn't mean to spam the damn board! *grumble*
It happens if you refresh your browser window right after you post. What you want to do is go back to the threadlist, and then go back to the thread you posted on. That way you don't get those multiple postings. Don't worry about it, almost everyone here has done a triple or more post. :^P
more like 5 years old, don't worry i will put up. i was way better than u at 15!! hahaha
Back when you were 15 eh? How old are you now? Why do you feel the need to bully kids? What the hell is wrong with you?
yeah koochi sore like I said before put up or shut up, I'll be the first to tell you your work was better than mine if it is, so post pics

Hi 51,
you have got talent, and as was said with me we just need pointers and as for you, your only 15 so as they said slow down. your art work reminds me of me when i was 15, and its people like the idiot that put you down, that made me turn my back on my art. now im 30 and can say i think i made a big mistake.
all the advice i can give you (which in fact isnt much) is dont let guys tell you, your not good enough, take criticism that is constructive and just keep at it. practice as much as you can, but never and i mean never do what i did and now feel its to late.
anyway thats my two pence worth
regards
Thunder
Ryan...this Koochie is just a forum bitch...don't even worry about it! Take all the good advice and run with it pal!!!
IMHO you are good for 15.
Take the "in-depth" study idea about the panther.... no matter how old you are, it works. Its been a while since I've put this much time into drawing.. and I'm 21!! I have to re-train myself in drawing different things after being out of practice or doing new topics. The repetition of basic shapes, drawing different types, seeing limb attachments/proportion etc. really works.
Plus, it doesn't cost anything, just some time at a library or computer. Library is better though for topics.... . I search for images at work and sketch when there's nothing to do but sit at a desk for the afternoon.
HAHAHAHA i love it
at least you are trying
don't cry
u don't want an honest opinion, don't ask for one
but you have MUUUUUCH work to do
i give you about 5 years to be as good as me
Then lets see that work asswad!
Huh...It shows on your myspace page that you are a 31yr old female. So your saying it's only going to take this kid 5 years to be as good as you..when he's 20? Sounds like your the one that's going to need the work since, this kids gonna pass you up in the next few years.
wow...based upon all koochie sore's previous posts, I really assumed she was along the lines of about 13 or so....
*shakes head*
what a sad, pathetic individual...
Yup!
Dumbass forum troll!!
