Mail from the tattoo school

It seems like every day I get another nasty e-mail from our old friend Boofy the tattoo school grad...If you recall boofy was the guy who graduated from the tattoo school and finally ( after we all begged for weeks) sent in what were supposed to be pics of his tattoo work....well we didn't slam him...I really tried to be nice and told him that he definately needed improvement and even offered to help him in any way I could....well Boof seemed to take that ok , said thanks and goodbye etc...I guess after stewin about it for a few days old Boof e-mails me and says " Well those were not really my work, I just wanted to see if you would "slam " the tattoos and one was from an award winning artist {yeah OK}..etc etc....)oh yeah and he says he opened 3 shops and made a mil etc...well now he e-mails me AGAIN and says that he is actually an employee of the school and that he knows people in my little town and that I'm a "fatass"( yeah ok my ass IS large...no foul there ...Takes a bit more than that to hurt MY feelings Boof!) and he says his "peeps "told him there are never customers in my shop...Kinda weird....my shop IS a custom shop...by appointment and no there usually are NOT big crowds there....we don't run a school so why should there be? But by the same token...today for example I did 6 tattoos 2 of which are major in progress works...the others did a total of 13 tattoos and 11 piercings so we stay busy enough... My question to Ol BOOFY is this...WHAT IS YOUR POINT???? Mine is the first licensed shop in the city been open since 1989 , my bills are paid,the roof don't leak and the dog is well fed and what the fuck does this have to do with your bad tattoos?...YOU sent them in ...blame yourself that people on this site said they sucked...people I don't even know Boofy don't ya think its time to grow up a bit?...I didn't make this personal...I gave you a polite professional opinion and because it wasn't what you wanted to hear ya gotta resort to callin me a "fatass" and trying to insult my shop...you are just making yourself look foolish...spend this energy you are wasting trying to slam me and put it into improving your art. So thats where we are in the Tattoo School Saga folks...its kinda sad but kinda funny in the same instant..My feelings are not hurt and the threats don't bother me a bit.(Since this thing started I have been getting these e-mail and phone threats.) AND that right there folks should awnser all the questions about these tattoo school. if he would have had a normal apprintanceship he wouldn't have that attitude, and he would know how to handle the truth about his work, and also know how to tell the damn truth. these are thinks that come with shop expierence, not some 3 month school. shit i've been tattooing for a few years, nope i've never won an award and what i don't know about tattooing would fill a warehouse, but i'll be learning till the day i retire.......

Alright, fuck! Look, it's not to hard to tell if you read English that I have talked some shit Boof... but all shit talking and jokes aside man, let it go. You have a desire to tattoo, no one can take that away from you. Seriously though, you have to have some common sense about all this. There are a great majority of artists on this site (I am not going to spout off a percentage for the sake of error) that busted their asses for many years through a formal apprenticeship, through trial and error, move from shop to shop, convention to convention, to get their name out, to be respected. But you come onto a public forum that happens to be read by MANY professionals and boast that you "learned more in those 2 weeks than in 2 years as an apprentice" and have "opened 3 shops since graduating". Brother that doesn't earn you a top ten spot and a layout in "Flash" or "International". You agreed to send a man who has 35 years, and is WELL respected in the tattoo industry the "first ten tattoos" you did and he gave you, to the best of his ability, an honest answer. And when you didn't hear the answer you wanted to hear you turned cherry and brought a rain of fire on yourself because you couldn't handle some old school constructive criticism. If your work needs improvement, no one on this site that honestly gives his soul to this art is going to tell you otherwise. They tell you it is "inferior", that it "needs improvement", because you NEED to hear that. Crockett is right, you can not base the quailty of your work based off of your clientel's word. Hell yeah it feels good to hear someone tell you that they love the work you did and that they will come back. But to rest on your laurels and become complacent in this industry is incompetent and lazy and your work will continue to reflect that as years go by. That is if you can even stay in buisness that long. And that is not directed at you personally, that gose for anyone. Yeah man, we gave you some hella shit. But that is because you handled the entire situation poorly. Go ahead and stick up for your school bro, that's all well and dandy. But don't get upset because those of us that busted our asses as the "shop bitches" stay tried and true to the way we came into the buisness and our own. Boofy, I don't post on here much because ...well not really needed. I read, and move on. But I read the hate mail thing going on and want you to know Taz is straight up and HONEST...period. I sent him a pic of some ink I did and if I remember his words it was to the effect; BAD but it has potential. Well to be honest it wasn't what I wanted to hear..BUT where have I gone since? It has driven me to get better to learn more, to strive to get my ass up and do something creative. My perspective of the world has change ENTIRELY!!! I have walked many a thin line but my life has now found direction! I am a tattoo artist, I will be a tattoo artist, I will DIE a tattoo artist!!!!!!! I may (ok won't) be as good an artist as some of the...ummm what is a good adjective..out fucking standing artists on this site but the will and drive to be the best is what will keep my going. If your clients think your work in "good" and your happy with that so be it. BUT and a big BUT....if you can look at your work and honestly think to yourself you are happy with it, well then maybe you need to rethink the learning curve my friend. I haven't meet an artist that hasn't had that moment when they stand back and think ...ahhh shit I think I out did myself this time. What I am getting at is: If your client is happy great but YOU and only YOU can make yourself an outstanding artist!!! Well this is why I don't post much...cause I always do it exhausted... i just got one thing to say.... If i was a tat artist i would pride myself on being a constant professional... whether you went to a school or an apprenticeship.... and i sense some of the well known posters up here like Taz, Cactus Al, Crockett, etc... do that... you know who you are... so like everyone is saying to Boofy, let it go man... be a professional, act like one, cuase i got to say, what if some of your clients (customers) are up here surfing and reading this right now? i mean if i was one of your clients, i would maybe stop going to you solely due to your attitude and lack of professionalism.... you're entitled to your opinion yes...but what you said about Taz - making threats??- that don't sound like him at all... granted i do not know him that well... but from how we've talked, it don't sound like him.. and if he's got alot of years in the tat business, i doubt he'd throw it all away on some worthless shit like that...or a worthless person (not calling you worthless boofy, just stating something...). and then you say that he's talking shit on his pc and he ain't man enough to back it up (not the exact words, but you get my gist)... well from i seen, you're the one who's talking the most shit... and i know how it goes on these boards... someone says something, and shit gets started, and then before you know it the thread becomes a flame... and then the flame becomes a Jerry Springer episode w/ everyone at each other, except diff. being, there ain't no bodyguards on here... maybe there are moderators, but from what i seen it's a pretty loose board here... i know like the person who starts the bullshit, they're the one's that get picked on and then that person has to keep making up shit or fighting back, and the shit never stops... i know this, cuase i used to be exactly like this... but i changed... why you think ppz are saying to you boofy to let it go? cuase shit ain't gonna go nowhere... sooner or later a mod will come up and lock this thread... and then your ass will just go start another one and waste bandwidth on the site... sooner or later the mod will ban you and your IP from the site... so why don't you listen to some of the members here and let it go, at least online for this board's and board members sake...?
