Kat Von D drinking ?

I thought it was a no no to tattoo someone if their are drinking , tonight I saw an episode were Kat got a portrait of her lesbian friend . It was bad enough to see her pull down her pants , but she did take a shot of something . vodka ? tequila ? gin ? Strange how she is screaming for bad attention among the tattoo community ,or is she really that stupid !

I've said it from the first time she was on Miami Ink, she's a retard. No personality having, attention whore. who will probably kill herself when her show gets cancelled and everyone forgets who she is. Her work is alright, but I've seen better.

i just think its a shame that TLC had to pick her as their poster child for tattooing, look at all the legends in the business right now and they pick her... i am sure not everyone would want that kind of attention, but it seems like she is hurting the industry as much as she is helping it. look at all the posts we get now, " what kind of tattoo gun does Kat use" or "Kat this" or Kat that". get over her people, dig a little deeper and find real artists that are as talented as they are great human beings.

I was gonna respond to this in a long drawn out fashion but it's a waste. She does good tattoos. And she's on tv, who gives a shit.

I've been ignoring all of the negative comments about her. The bottom line is, she's a great tattooist and I've enjoyed seeing her work. But drinking and smoking in the shop? But I also keep 2 things in mind. One is that TLC doesn't give a shit about the tattoo industry. They care about drawing in viewers. Kat does that. End of story. The second thing is that even for Miami Ink many, many really amazing artists turned down the chance to be on the show. They didn't put the existing artists on because they were necessarily the best but because they said yes - after many other artists said no. Most of the time I think it's unfair to put the weight of an entire group of people on one persons shoulders. But she has done some really stupid, idiotic things that make me think she's laughing at other tattooists saying "haha, look what I can do". The list of rules she breaks just keeps growing and growing.

Yea, I thought it was pretty horrifying. Not to say that shit doesn't happen behind the scenes in some tattoo shops, but it's really ridiculous to put an image like that out to the general public. As if it's not already a problem with customers thinking it's A-OK to come in stoned or drunk out of their minds, it's super stellar we now have this public tattoo icon, drinking and smoking in her shop while getting tattooed. Faaaabulous. Don't get me wrong, I love Kat. She's all sorts of hot, and pretty talented, but this was a pretty dumb move.

You would think being on tv you would be extra carefull to represent tattooing in a positive matter but she wants to make money and who wouldnt. My biggest peve is seeing how she handled her equipment on that idiot Tom Greens show barehanding every thing smoking while handeling the tube and needle. I kept thinking damn you would get yelled at in my shop for that

she's simply furthering the stereotype that the tattoo industry doesn't need. she's a great artist, but she's dumb as a sack of bowling balls. smoking inside an area open to the public is illegal in california for one. her antics are just making us look bad. i've already had a customer ask if he could bring in a bottle to take the edge off... why? Kat Von D cares nothing about the tattoo industry , she happen to pick up a tattoo machine as a joke , started scratching on friends , found out she could make some cash , liked the attention from guys and thats it ! The media attention is just icing on the cake To her its all about her self image , and networking to make as many so called friends ( tattooing is secondary ) .... and now she can scoop as much cash as possible with her big mouth along with the other parasites hanging off of her .

I wouldn't exactly lump people like Hannah Aitchison or Corey Miller in with the parasites, but for the most part I hear ya Creeper.

hannah and corey are the only reasons i even watch that crap. both are great artists.

Kat Von Dee has talent like many many many other artists, but her behaviour on TV leaves much to be desired be it actual or thru editing. She's young and having fun, more power to her, but intelligent people can see it's entertainment as well. Pixie is hotter then liquid hot magma, i didn't think she was lez though... Well if she is there goes my hopes of becoming a polygamist with multiple tattoo'd hottie wives who rollerskate and have split tongues. damn.

First of all, if you watched the rest of the episode, she talked about how she'd been planning to get a portrait of Pixie for a while and was trying to find the perfect picture to use, and when she found said picture, she scheduled a session with one of her favorite artists Nikko. Therefore its not like she came up with the idea after having those shots of Patron you saw her doing. She said she takes shots of tequila while being tattooed because she doesnt like the pain, she doesnt get drunk first and then decide to get tattooed. I admit thats pretty weak because even I can take the pain, but basically she did it because it was inside her shop, and because it didnt seem to be a problem with the guy that did the tattoo because he knew she was of sound mind when she scheduled the appt. with him. I do agree that it is completely wrong for stoned or drunk people to walk into tattoo shops and try to get something done while under the influence but thats not what happened here people.

I'd think the important thing here is that Kat should have known it was a major no-no to allow to be aired. If she's the type who has to have a drink (or two) before she can deal with the discomfort, she could have done it 'off camera' and I think THAT'S the point. She is indeed a talented young women but she needs to think about what she's allowing to be put on the air and THAT she's fucking up on left and right.

I am reading the crap that some of your are writing and it makes me think the there are some people full of &*^& out there. So what you are telling me is that you test every person that come in your shop for achol and drugs. No yo dont. If the person is in their right mind and is not drunk or impaired, you would give them a tattoo. So dont give us all this crap about it is bad for the bussiness, because most of the people who do walk in aroung the world normally have a drink or two with there buddies before going in to a shop to get up there currage. Richard, apparently you don't seem able to grasp the fact that this topic is about Kat drinking on TV as she's getting a tattoo which is not the same as the crap you wrote and I do consider it crap as it's only a small percentage of people who need 'liquid courage' before getting a tattoo. The fact remains that portraying that on a widely watched TV show, by a supposedly professional tattoo artist does reflect poorly on the profession, which I doubt very seriously you are a part of or you'd realize it. Yes she screwed up and everyone knows it. The point I was trying to make if you read the above topic comments, they try to make it out as that she is the Anti-Christ. Yes she has pulled out some stupid tricks. A lot of this we can hope to blame on TV. Yes TV because that is what it is, TV. It dose not reflect on you personally. It reflects on her. She made the mistakes. When the pilots in Miami decided to drink before flying, did you go out and quit flying. When you got screw out of your taxes, did you decide to quit paying? If someone wants a tattoo then that is a decision of there making. I am all for this decision, unless they are impaired. Yes the industry has come along way in the past 20 years. But looking over most of the discussion people used it to say she was a “hacker in the art”. If you feel that she screwed up then let her know. Don’t go around attacking her art. Yes she dose excellent art. She may need guidance in the where of not, the where to. Use your experience to help guide people not degrade them. If this is the front people see then they to will become disgruntled and look down on the industry. All someone had to say was that she made a mistake and someone should talk to her. Kat Von D can do what the fuck she likes in her own shop, I like the way everybody above has no where near her skill level, financial income, fame or talent. What makes anyone here more qualified than Kat to tell her what she should and shouldnt do in her own shop. And for that matter her own tv show. If I was her I'd tell y'all to kiss it.

To Kat Von D's credit, she is a great tattooer. Thats the bottom line. Yes, I don't think it was cool to actually show her drinking on t.v. during a tattoo, but that was probably more so the producer of the show's fault. They knew it would get ratings so they aired it. Remeber, it's a show on t.v., and every tattooer thats seen any of those shows knows they cut out a lot. As far as her recent fame, that's showbiz. Nobody's perfect and If I was given a t.v. show, It would probably show me drinking an insane amount of booze, picking up random tattoo sluts and in general, living the life of a rock star. So I can't bash Kat for having a beer on air. And when handed fame such as her's, I feel in general she has been pretty good so far about her responsibilities not giving the industry a worse name (does it even have a bad name anymore? ). No one can knock her because right now, she is the most popular tattooer among people who are just being introduced to the industry, and nobody else on this message board can say that. I say, blame the producer, not Kat. Or blame the guy that is actually dumb enough to think they can get drunk while getting tattooed.

I can't believe how stupid the last couple of comments got. Richard- As far as I know no one was claiming to "drug test every client," nor did anyone call Kat the "Anti christ" and the past couple of posters that are apparently in Kat's fan club, no one disputed her talent. She is an amazing artist, and especially due to being in the public eye is at the top of her game. However, to think because she's talented/hot/awesome/whatever she's allowed to do whatever she wants because it's "her shop" thats absurd. There's a reason there are laws, health codes and other rules regarding businesses. No one denies it happens, and sometimes you can't tell, and there's not always ways to stop it, but the point is as a professional, she should know better. To say people here shouldn't judge because she's probably better then them is one of the more juvenile comments I've seen on this board. Talent or not, famous or not, Kat von D or Joe Schmoe tattoo artist, it was a horrible image that just perpetuates the stereotypes of the tattooed culture.

YES Kat CAN do what she wants in her own shop - it is not YOUR place nor anyones here to dictate standards or the law to her - that is the responsibility of the Los Angeles authorities IF they want to persue that line of action. She doesn't drink anymore, she gave it up cuz she realised it was destroying her. People she is a bad person, yeah she broke up with her husband, so? many people break up, why is hers so big and everyone hates her cuz of it? they just werent working out. She loved orbi (whatever his name is) u could she how she cuddled into him and stuff. People do move on from relationships! so now she is with nikki or what ever. She is a good tattoo artist, i would love to see some of u who dont know how to tattoo or draw do better. The show is what it is and Kat is what she is. Everyone has cable these days. With so many channels to watch why sit there watching just so's you can bitch about it?
