Okay so I am in discussion for my tattoo artist to get a fairly big tattoo (at the minute discussing about 30cm could turn out bigger once its all drawn up. It will be on my back going off to the left, so it may go onto the side somewhat.
This will be my fourth tattoo, already have one on very lower back, up the top of my back in the centre and on one that takes up a good bit of the top of my foot...to be honest found none of them painful and would say at worse the sorest part of any of them painwise was a 3 out of 10.
Anyway the tattoo I'm in discussion about at the minute will take about 6 hours, and I want to get it all at once and not in seperate sittings...is this too much for one sitting?
The longest have had before is about 2 hours and that was grand, I was actually a bit sad when it ended haha.
Also any tips on what to bring to a long tattoo session, what to wear when getting a large back tattoo (I'm a 19 year old girl) and anything about pain or anything (though I'm really good with pain so that doesn't bother me too much)
Sorry I know this is long =/ thanks to anyone who answers =)
How long should a tattoo session be?

I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge, but this is only my opinion, the best way for me to know when to stop is when I start to see an artist stopping & trying to loosen up his hand , look at it like writing a long letter , when you first start your handwriting is smoother, nicer with a good flow to it but the longer you write the less smooth it looks , tattoo artists are still human they get sore & tired also & if his hands are getting too sore it could make for less fluid lines, like when someone moves or squirms around while getting tattooed, its basically the artist alot can goe for 7 or 8 hours & still look as flawless as when they started , & some cant, just be straight forward with the artist you choose & ask him if he wants a long session or multiple sessions & good artist with integrity will let you know what he feels more comfortable doing, because two things are at stake, 1- the quality of your tattoo & 2- the artists reputation, no artist wants to be labeled with a bad reputation cuz in the tattoo world word spreads fast...
Get a good nights rest. Eat. Take some Advil, you get sore when you sit that long. Bring a zipper hoodie so you can wear it backwards, exposing your back but covering your front. You might want to bring an ipod too.
I am a 25 year old female who has 80+ hours from my inner arm pit down past my hip bone from mid stomach to mid back. My out line sessions I wore a string bikini under my clothes. That way it was easily moved around. Wear loose fitting clothing. My sessions are from 6-8 hours and you can be quite sore by the end of your session. Most artists will not bandage or wrap a large piece. Just bring your iPod and some sugary snacks to keep your blood sugar up. You'll do fine. I hope this helps
