Man, the guy is a member of Inked Nation, he is obviously a profesional.
B
i wouldn't say he's the best artist,
but speedstick is commonly used to apply a stencil, this is done after prepping the skin, and before tattooing, so there is no risk of contamination..
the cellphone i wouldn't put on my tray, but still if he doesn't touch it with his gloves, all he's putting at risk is himself (not very smart i agree)
and tattoo parties wouldn't be negative necessarily, if he knows what he's doing and works save.. even paul booth tattoos from hotel rooms..
i don't know this guy so i'm not judging him, but there does seem to be too much stuff on his workstation, keep just the essentials, what you need for the tattoo, to keep the risks low..
and i would keep the ink bottles clean, just for looks..
and being a member of tattoo nation, doesn't mean you're professional, anybody can become member and post pictures..
(i mean, inked nation)
SO PAUL YOUR TELLING ME.....that using speed stick after preping and before tattooing is ok? well dude i dont know where you got your training but it is not ok to use anything that was used on someone else on another person (scenario): your getting ready to prep someone and shave them down and lets say you cut them just a lil bit or happen to ripp out a hair follicle while shaving then you wipe off the hair and rub on speed stick to apply stencil ok now you rub that same speed stick on next client....doesnt sound like i would go to you for any tattoo work!!!!! come on man getr with the times speed stick is a crosscontamination waiting to happen....NOT TO MENTION all the other things wrong in the picture you just pointed out what i said what do you see wrong?
OH and "TO KEEP HIS INK BOTTLES CLEAN AT LEAST FOR LOOKS") WTF.......are you crazy "AT LEAST FOR LOOKS" oh so if it looks clean its ok ....man you know what im not even going to go there ill let the room rip that apart!!!!!
what's to say that he does not put the speed stick on glove than apply to skin .always a possibility right!
you do have a point tattitude,
i'm absolutely not condoning the artist in the picture..
speedstick IS commonly used by artists, i wipe the stick with paper towel before and after use though..
and i'm not saying that if it looks clean it must be clean, the ink is dripping from the bottle, and i would keep that clean, just for looks!
i don't agree with all the unnecessary stuff laying around, and i would also bag my machines..
anything else i can see wrong in the picture:
open coke can next to workstation (without paper towel around it),
grip laying beside the workstation,
the tape, the stack of cups, the sharpie and inkbottles being on the workstation,
the speed stick being open,
using pertroleum jelly (with latex gloves),
the sharps container shouldn't have to be there,
and all the paperwork just about to slide over and knock everything down..
in another pictures it seems he tattoos on a bed (from his basement)
can you see anything else?? ("spot the faults")
and by the way he works, he most likely doesn't use a glove to wipe on the speedstick. i don't know, just saying..
Wipe the speed stick with a paper towel?...Now THATS sterile huh?
Just read what they say and they tell you just what level of cleanliness they are at huh?
i dont mean wipe it clean, i mean wipe off a couple layers, so anything that was on there is now in the trash can..
don't tell me that i'm the only one that uses speedstick!
Dettol works great.
There is only one way to use speed stick that aasures no cross contamination...and that is to only use it on one client then discard it, No actually I guess you could use a stick( tongue depresser) to scrape some off would be ok. Why not just march into the present and use the safe methods nearly everyone is using?...Dettol, stencilpro,greensoap,germ-x etc etc etc??????
No Doubt !!!
Time to up-date your Technique’s
i've seen and heard of many people still using speedstick,
but you are right and why risk it..
i'm switching over to dettol!
i've also heard about this 'stencil stuff', supposed to stay in the skin better. anybody use it?
My artists use a stencil spray, can still see some of the stencil from saturday.I'd say it's pretty good.
For a dollar a bottle the generic GERM_X from the dolla sto works GREAT!!
