Did this guy screw over future shops?

Hey everyone, just had one question with a lot of build up leading to it. I live in a rural farming community with a population of less then 10,000 people. I have had a long term goal of setting up a small shop here in town for some time now. Recently we another gentleman set up a shop that in my eyes did more damage than good. It was one "artist", 3 apprentice's, and a revolving door of piercers. The work coming out of there was way bellow standard. Any time you would talk to the shop owner and mention other artist in the surrounding areas he would degrade their work and belittle every aspect of them. Now, after about 6 months of operation it got worse. The shop became the focus of the local police due to its "alleged" back door drug sales. Finally after multiple arrests on the property and the failure to pay rent, the shop was closed. The building was left damaged and all dry wall had to be replace along with the flooring. Now for my question. Have the actions and presance of this so called tattoo shop damaged any chances of me ever being able to open A reputable shop in the future? Personally I feel as though the tattoo community has come a long way in the last couple of decades showing that it's not just for prisoners and sailors; and better yet that the parlors are not the alcohol and drug filled holes people once believed them to be. Now I feel like this guy kicked me in the sack and ran off with my dreams.
