Coil Wraps Decorative

so i wanna know what i can use to wrap around the outside of my coils.. like is there a way i could cut up some leather and wrap it and glue it down.... now i know i cant just use super glue or gorilla glue... but is there like a heat activated glue that might harden as i use it?.... or a glue that will tighten the material as its heated into place??? i got some funky stuff i wanna do to my machines and i am carving my own machine this summer so i'd like to have custom coils to go with...
